Weil-McLain certified

Weil-McLain boiler service for Capital Region homes

Weil-McLain has certified one company in upstate New York to start up and service its boilers, and it is us. The same training goes into every home boiler we fit, repair or tune up, whichever Weil-McLain model is in the basement.

What the certification means in your house

Trinity Plumbing & Drains is the only Weil-McLain factory-certified startup and service provider in upstate New York. If a school or an apartment block in this part of the state needs a factory-certified startup on its Weil-McLain plant, our technicians are the ones who carry it out.

A home boiler gets that same treatment. It is set up and serviced the way Weil-McLain lays out, by people trained on the equipment, and if something covered by the warranty fails we fix it ourselves instead of sending you somewhere else.

What we do

Weil-McLain work in the home

Different make of boiler? Our boiler repair and installation page covers the rest.

  • A new boiler, or a replacement

Sized from a heat-loss calculation of the house rather than copied from the old unit, then piped, vented and fired up to Weil-McLain's startup procedure with the combustion readings written down.

  • Repairs

No heat, lockouts, error codes, falling pressure, leaks and noisy circulators, on hot-water and steam systems alike, fixed with Weil-McLain parts.

  • The yearly tune-up

Burner and heat exchanger cleaned, combustion tested, the low-water cutoff and other safety controls checked. Condensing boilers also get the condensate trap and neutralizer seen to.

  • Warranty work

If a Weil-McLain boiler fails while it is covered, we diagnose it and carry out the warranty repair ourselves.

Questions

Weil-McLain boilers at home

Does it matter if my plumber is Weil-McLain certified?

Any licensed plumber can work on a boiler. Certification means the technician has been trained by Weil-McLain on its own equipment and procedures, and can take on warranty work. In upstate New York, Trinity is the only company Weil-McLain has certified for startup and service.

Can my Weil-McLain boiler be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Usually a broken part is just a broken part, and a cast iron Weil-McLain that gets its yearly service keeps going for a long time. We suggest replacing when the heat exchanger is cracked or leaking, when the repair bills keep stacking up, or when a condensing model would cut the gas bill by enough to pay its way. You see what we found before deciding.

How often should a Weil-McLain boiler be serviced?

Every year, and booking it before the weather turns cold is best. Condensing models such as the Ultra and Evergreen need the heat exchanger cleaned and the condensate trap cleared to hold their efficiency. Cast iron boilers need combustion and safety-control checks.

Is my boiler still covered by its Weil-McLain warranty?

That depends on the model and when it went in. Have the model and serial number from the rating plate ready when you call, or we read them at the visit. If the fault is covered, we handle the repair as warranty work.

What will the work cost?

Boiler work depends on the house, the model and the venting, so we give a price once we have seen the job. Written estimates for a planned replacement are free. Call (518) 348-3032 or send the form on this page to set up a visit.
